Technical projects

Web development

A new site with SEO built in from day one, not bolted on at the end with a plugin. The architecture is decided with how it will rank in mind.

SEO by default
Not bolted on at the end with a plugin
Fast out of the box
Performance is a requirement, not an extra
You own it
No being tied to whoever built it

Why the order matters

A site's SEO is decided before the first line of copy is written

Most of the problems I find in audits are not bugs: they are architecture decisions taken without thinking about crawling, and they can no longer be changed without a migration. How categories are grouped, what generates a URL and what does not, how listings paginate, what gets rendered client-side.

All of that costs nothing if decided at the start and costs a migration if decided later.

What it includes

What goes into the build

  • URL and taxonomy architecture decided with crawling in mind
  • Templates with correct headings, structured data and metadata by default
  • Performance as a requirement: Core Web Vitals in the green on launch day
  • An admin your team understands, without twenty plugins holding it up
  • Measurement configured from day one, not three months later
  • A staging environment and controlled deployment

How it works

How a project runs

  1. Requirements and architecture

What the site has to do, for whom, and how the content is organised so it can rank.

  2. Layout and templates

The templates are built with technical SEO inside, not as a later layer.

  3. Content and measurement

Content loading, metadata, structured data and analytics working before launch.

  4. Launch and monitoring

A controlled release and tracking of indexing and performance over the first weeks.

FAQ

What people ask before hiring

Do you work with a designer or do I need to bring one?

Either. If you already have a design or brand, I respect it; if not, it gets resolved with a sober, functional layout, which is a different thing from authored design.

What happens if I later want to change supplier?

You take the site with you. No odd dependencies, no licences in my name, and with documentation of what is in place. Holding clients through technical dependency strikes me as a terrible way to work.

Do you build online shops?

Yes, with WooCommerce, PrestaShop or Shopify. It is where having SEO decided upfront shows most: facets, filters, variants and out-of-stock items generate thousands of URLs by default that nobody wants indexed.

Website migrations

Domain change, CMS change, technology change or URL restructure, with technical oversight at every stage. It is where the most rankings get lost through carelessness.
